I love that delicious Belgian chocolates and beer are so cheap here in the Netherlands!

We haven't been down to Maastricht yet but I hear it's beautiful, we're planning to go down there soon!

6 and 1/2 years ago I met my now wife in Brugge, Belgium which is just gorgeous. We had both just graduated college and she was staying at the same hostel as me. Good memories of Belgium myself :-)

Thanks for the welcome. Amsterdam isn't bad at all. Spent some time in Roermond and Maastricht and remember a trip we took to Belgium for Chocolate and Beer. I miss that!

First off, a belated welcome to the channel Katherine!

I grew up in Orlando and my wife and I recently moved from Tampa to Amsterdam. They have great pastries over here in Europe but your post makes me miss a nice slice of delicious Florida key lime pie!

Katherine, I think how these dishes become official differs from place to place. Boston Cream Pie was named the official MA state dessert thanks to a campaign started by students at local Norton High School. Isn't that cool? And there was actually competition from other desserts, too, including Toll House cookies. Wonders never cease...

Ohio=Buckeyes (both the nut and the candy), walleye (all of the Great Lakes states love walleye), pierogi, and stadium mustard.
