It has a very high unemployment rate. It is one of the least educated cities in America. When I first came to south florida in 1993, I thought that I landed in a third world country. I will agree that there are some nice parts here, but you better get ready to spend some money. Areas like pinecrest, and coral gables although nice are extremely expensive. I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and i remember my childhood being great. I live in Phoenix, Arizona right now and I'm actually moving back to Florida to raise my son. Don't get me wrong Florida is a big singles place but it also has a lot for the family to do. Beaches, theme parks, and plus the schools are great. Your going to have areas that are bad but thats with any state. Dont knock until you try it. Florida i s beautiful place to live. I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and i remember my childhood being great.
