Brazilian Film Festival of Miami

Taking place from May 30th - June 7th, the Brazilian Film Festival in Miami was the first festival completely dedicated to Brazilian movies. Since its inception, the Brazilian Film Festival is now in its 12th year and has grown to become an official event in the city’s cultural calendar. The programming brings a mixture of competitive and parallel screenings, open air cinemas, debates and a business fair called the Market Place and has expanded into many areas of the world including Buenos Aires, Madrid, Milan, New York and Barcelona.
This year, the festival began with an outdoor screening of Urban Snap-shots, the 2007 Best Picture Public choice on the beach and continues throughout the week at a variety of Miami Beach venues such as The Colony Theatre, Wolfsonian Museum and the Miami Beach Cinematheque. A Crystal Lens Award will be presented for the best film, best director, best actor, best art direction and many more. For a schedule of events, visit their website.

In New York we have our Brazilian Film Fest coming in mid-June. I am so excited to see some new films, especially since Brazil has been a powerhouse in films for the last few years!
