If you haven’t made plans for New Year’s Eve yet, time is running out. No matter what kind of evening you’d like to partake in, there are options in every corner. Here are some possibilities to spend that magical night:

Palm Beach County:

  • Join in the fun close to home at John Bull English Pub. They will be offering $5 martinis, some amazing dinner specials, a live band “24/7″ and the infamous ball drop at midnight. Call early for reservations. 561-697-2855

  • Lola’s on Harrison will be offering a 4-course dinner and champagne toast on New Year’s Eve for $65.   • Area 31 at the Epic Hotel promises to be the best spot for an amazing fireworks display in the area. ]]>  Just a quick note to let everyone know that some changes have taken place at b5media, and The South Florida Traveler will be affected. Although this blog will be on a hiatus, I will still be around. In fact, I am very excited about the changes. The South Florida Traveler will merge with Southern Byways, and this will turn into more of a mega blog covering the area from Texas to D.C.  Since South Florida is my home, it will not be forgotten by any means, but now you will be able to learn about travel destinations throughout the south. Hotels, restaurants, day trips, and festivals — they will all be covered. So come on over and check out the site. See you there.

]]> I think everyone’s had one of those days where they rush out the door to catch a flight only to remember they forgot that essential item or spill something on that dress that you were planning to wear that evening. What to do. No more worries, as Net-a-Porter has saved the day. They now offer an “emergency wardrobe-service” to select Soho members’ clubs/hotels. This brand new initiative will take place at High Road House London, Babington House Somerset and Soho House New York and will offer guest same-day delivery of Net-A-Porter’s exclusive online collection of designer clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories. Who says luxury is dead?

Another service that some hotels have started incorporating is allowing guests to pre-order personal care items to have in their room upon arrival. Such is the case with Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts. Guests can order such items as sunscreen, toothpaste, and baby wipes, so no more worrying about something opening up in your suitcase.

This evening the Morton’s in West Palm Beach hosted a special event celebrating the grand opening of Bar 12 21. Filled with plush chairs, plasma tvs and a lively crowd, this is a great place to be come 5:00 on any night of the week. The name 12- 21 is in remembrance of the 1st Morton’s that opened up on December 21, 1978. If I’m not mistaken, Bar 12 21 offers their “bar bites” from 5:00 – 6:30 and from 8:30 – 10:00 pm. During this time, guests can purchase select appetizers for only $5. These aren’t tiny appetizers either. We’re talking you could easily make a meal out of this. They offer: 

  •  Miniature Prime Cheeseburger Trio
  • 4 Petite Filet Mignon Sandwiches served with mustard mayonnaise sauce
  • Chicken Gouionettes (or simply chicken strips basically)
  • Jumbo Lump Crab, Spinach & Artichoke Dip
  • Blue Cheese French Fries
