 When I first met Burt Rapoport nearly 2 years ago, I knew he was one to keep an eye on. I was thoroughly impressed with his genuine character and the excellent food and service you received in his restaurants. The only problem was that none of the restaurants were very close by, until now. Clematis Social, Burt’s latest endeavor, opened up recently on Clematis Street in West Palm Beach. For those of you who have been around South Florida for awhile, you must surely remember when CityPlace used to be more of a ghetto than a tourist destination. After cleaning the area up, a huge amount of real estate development and some dedicated people devoted to change, CityPlace was transformed. There are certain times in life when you just feel the need to reach out to others  - one, to create a feel good sense in yourself and two, because there are others out there that need you and the love you can bring them. This evening the Morton’s in West Palm Beach hosted a special event celebrating the grand opening of Bar 12 21. Filled with plush chairs, plasma tvs and a lively crowd, this is a great place to be come 5:00 on any night of the week. The name 12- 21 is in remembrance of the 1st Morton’s that opened up on December 21, 1978. If I’m not mistaken, Bar 12 21 offers their “bar bites” from 5:00 – 6:30 and from 8:30 – 10:00 pm. The Armory Art Center is West Palm Beach’s only community-based art center. Founded in 1986, the Armory offers arts education, exhibition, lectures and other programs. It also brings together a diverse group of people to share in their love of artistic expression.

It was founded by Ralph Hubbard Norton and his wife Elizabeth Calhoun Norton in 1941.
